Mikhak Document Upload Errors and How to Fix Them

File size, format, and quality requirements for documents uploaded to the Mikhak portal.

Quick Answer

Mikhak document upload errors are usually caused by an incorrect file format, a file that exceeds the size limit, a scan that is too dark or low-resolution, or a file uploaded to the wrong field. Most upload errors can be resolved by adjusting the scan settings and re-uploading. ICS assists with upload preparation as part of its Mikhak assistance service.

Accepted File Types

Mikhak typically accepts JPEG and PDF file formats for document uploads. Other formats such as PNG, HEIC, or Word documents are not generally accepted. If your document is in an unsupported format, convert it to JPEG or PDF before uploading.

Note: Accepted file types can change with portal updates. Confirm current requirements before preparing your uploads.

File Size Limits

Each document uploaded to Mikhak must be within the portal's file size limit. If your file is too large:

  • Reduce the scan resolution to 150–200 DPI
  • Use a compression tool to reduce the file size of a JPEG or PDF
  • Avoid scanning in color if black-and-white is acceptable for that document type
  • Split a multi-page PDF into single pages if the portal limits file size per page

Scan Quality Requirements

The uploaded document must be clearly legible. Common scan quality problems include:

  • Too dark: adjust scanner brightness or contrast settings
  • Too light or faded: increase contrast
  • Crooked or partially cut off: position the document flat and centered on the scanner bed
  • Glare from glossy documents: use a matte scan setting or photograph under diffused lighting

Uploading to the Correct Field

Mikhak has separate upload fields for each document type. Uploading a photograph to a document field or a Shenasnameh to a passport field will result in an error or a rejected application. Review each upload field label carefully before uploading.

Photograph Upload Requirements

Passport photographs uploaded to Mikhak must meet specific size, background, and format requirements. These differ from standard U.S. or Canadian passport photo specifications. ICS provides a photograph specification guide and reviews photographs before upload preparation.

After a Failed Upload

If an upload fails, do not resubmit the entire application. Return to the upload section, correct the file, and re-upload. If the problem persists after correcting the file, ICS can assist in identifying whether the issue is with the file itself or with the portal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What file size does Mikhak accept?

Mikhak's file size limits can vary and may change with portal updates. As a general approach, keeping each file under 500 KB reduces the risk of upload failures. Scanning at 150–200 DPI and using JPEG format helps keep file sizes manageable.

My photo upload keeps failing. What is wrong?

Photograph upload failures are often caused by the wrong file format, a file that is too large, or a photo that does not meet the Iranian consular specifications. ICS reviews your photograph and prepares it for upload as part of the Mikhak assistance service.

Can I upload a screenshot from my phone?

Screenshots from a phone are generally not acceptable for document uploads. Use a scanner or a dedicated scanning app with appropriate resolution settings.
