Document Preparation or Iranian Attorney: Which Do You Need?

Understanding when ICS can help — and when your matter may require a separate Iranian legal engagement.

Iranian administrative and legal matters often begin with the same documents, but they do not always require the same type of professional assistance. Iranian Citizen Services helps clients prepare and organize consular and civil documents. When a matter requires legal advice, customized legal drafting, or representation under Iranian law, a separate engagement with an Iranian attorney may be appropriate.

How the ICS and Salamat Legal Relationship Works

Iranian Citizen Services and Salamat Legal are both founded and operated by Shirin Salamat, an attorney licensed in Iran and a member of the Iran Central Bar Association since 2004. ICS focuses on document preparation and consular procedures. Salamat Legal handles separately engaged Iranian legal matters. A client who begins with ICS may be informed that a separate legal engagement is appropriate if the matter extends beyond document preparation.

Important Jurisdictional Notice

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between document preparation and legal advice?

Document preparation involves organizing, formatting, translating, and submitting documents through the correct procedural channels. Legal advice involves interpreting law, advising on rights or obligations, or representing a client before a court or agency. ICS provides document preparation and procedural guidance. Legal advice under Iranian law requires a separately engaged Iranian attorney.

Can ICS help me renew my Iranian passport?

Yes. Iranian passport renewal is a procedural document process that ICS commonly assists with. ICS handles Mikhak registration, document preparation, photograph compliance review, and submission package organization.

When do I need an Iranian attorney instead of ICS?

You may need a separately engaged Iranian attorney when your matter involves a contested inheritance, a property dispute, Iranian court representation, divorce or custody proceedings, advice about the authority in a Power of Attorney, or a formal Iranian-law opinion. Services of this type may be available through Salamat Legal under a separate engagement.

Is Shirin Salamat a licensed attorney?

Shirin Salamat is licensed to practice law in Iran and is a member of the Iran Central Bar Association since 2004. ICS, the document preparation firm, is separate from Salamat Legal, the Iranian legal services firm. Neither ICS nor Salamat Legal provides U.S. or Canadian legal advice unless the service is delivered by an attorney licensed in the applicable jurisdiction.

Iranian Legal Advice

Does Your Matter Require Iranian Legal Advice?

ICS can assist with document preparation and consular procedures. If your situation involves inheritance rights, a property dispute, contested family matters, customized legal authority, or representation before an Iranian court or agency, Iranian legal services may be available separately through Salamat Legal.

Salamat Legal engagements are separate from ICS document-preparation services.
